Terms of service
Last updated October 15, 2026
1. Using Nook
By creating an account or using Nook you agree to these terms and to the rules. How we handle your data is set out in the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Nook.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services without parental consent where you live, if that is higher. Works rated Adult are only for people 18 and over.
- Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us if your account is misused.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you create and post: your works, versions, posts, images and profile. You confirm that you have the rights to share it, and that sharing it on Nook doesn't break any law or anyone else's rights.
4. What you allow us to do
So that Nook can work, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display and deliver your content on Nook, to make technical changes needed to run it (for example resizing images or adjusting file paths so a game loads), and to show it in previews and search. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies kept briefly in backups, and posts that others have quoted or replied to may stay visible in that context.
5. Rules and removal
Follow the community and hosting rules. We may remove or hide content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the rules, or that put Nook or its members at risk.
6. Games and safety
Games are made by their authors, not by Nook. We run them in a sandbox on a separate address to protect your account, but we can't review every game, and you play them at your own risk. Report anything harmful and we'll act on it.
7. Supporting authors
Supporter tiers are offered by authors, who decide what supporters receive. When paid memberships launch, payments will be processed by a payment provider under its own terms, and the details of billing, cancellation and refunds will be added here before any payment is taken.
8. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Nook infringes your copyright, report it with a link to the content and an explanation, and we'll review it promptly. Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be closed.
9. No warranty
Nook is provided "as is" and, especially during the alpha, may be unavailable, change, or lose data. We don't promise that it will always work or be error-free. Keep your own copies of your games and writing.
10. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, Nook is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content or games posted by others. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Nook at any time. We may suspend or end access for breaches of these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (like ownership and limits of liability) still apply afterwards.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes we'll give notice on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use Nook after that means you accept the updated terms.
