Rules

Community rules
These apply in discussions, profiles, work pages and anywhere else you can write.
- Be kind, and critique the work, not the person. Honest feedback is welcome; insults, pile-ons and personal attacks are not.
- No harassment, hate or threats. This includes targeting people for who they are, sharing someone's private information, or following someone around the site after they've asked you to stop.
- Keep topics on topic. A work's thread is for that work. Start a new topic in the right category for anything else.
- No spam. Don't post ads, repeated self-promotion, or links unrelated to the conversation. Sharing your own work in the right place is encouraged.
- Respect authors' choices. Ask, suggest and discuss, but don't demand updates, content, or a particular ending.
- Keep it legal and appropriate for the space. Sexual content involving minors is never allowed anywhere. Adult discussion belongs only in threads for adult-rated works.
- Don't impersonate others, including staff, authors, or other members.
Spoilers
In a work's own thread, discussing that work's content is expected. Elsewhere, warn people before major spoilers (for example by saying so at the start of your post or in the topic title).
Hosting rules
These apply to every work, version and extra you publish on Nook.
- Only upload what you have the right to share. The writing, art, music and code in your game must be yours, licensed to you, or used within its license terms. Credit the people whose work you use.
- No malicious code. Games may not contain malware, crypto-mining, phishing, attempts to escape the player's sandbox, or anything that harms players' devices or accounts.
- Respect players' privacy. Don't collect personal information or track players beyond what the game needs to run, and never ask for Nook login details.
- Describe your work honestly. The title, description, status, length and tags should match the work. Keep the status current, for example marking a work "On hiatus" or "Abandoned" when that's true.
- One work per game. Publish new chapters as new versions of the same work rather than as separate works.
- Changelogs are posts. A version's changelog is posted to your thread and must follow the community rules like any other post.
Content ratings
Choose the rating that fits the strongest content in your work:
- Everyone: suitable for all ages.
- Teen: mild violence, language or themes.
- Mature: strong violence, language, or mature themes.
- Adult (18+): explicit sexual content or extreme content. Explicit content is only allowed in works rated Adult, and never involving minors.
Use tags to warn about content readers may want to avoid.
Supporter content
If you offer supporter tiers, describe clearly what supporters receive and deliver it. Supporter-only versions and extras follow the same rules as everything else.
How rules are enforced
Anyone can report a post. Moderators may edit or hide posts, lock or move topics, remove works or versions, and suspend accounts for a set time or indefinitely. When a post is hidden, its author is told why. Serious or repeated problems lead to stronger action. If you think a decision was wrong, ask in Site Feedback.
